The Mets left no doubt in the minds of New York baseball fans powering past the Yankees 12-3 to sweep all four games in this year’s Subway Series.
And once again the Mets had their way with Gerrit Cole battering him for a second time this season. They smashed 5 homers including two off the bat of Francisco Lindor who is quickly elevating his status to an NL MVP candidate. Meanwhile, Sean Manea pitched well before handing the game to the Met bullpen who swept 2 games in the Bronx without Edwin Diaz having to throw a single pitch in this 2 game destruction.

These 4 games proved the Mets are clearly the better team showing us all that the depth of their lineup far outweighed the Soto/Judge two-headed monster. It also proved the depth of the Met rotation is better and with Kodai Senga returning this weekend, it will become even better.
But more importantly, the Met clubhouse chemistry spoke volumes this week. This team is prepared for every aspect of the game with a detailed game plan while the Yanks are simply not prepared to tackle elite teams like the Mets.
And there was a time this year the Mets seemed like the season was a lost cause but they never wavered from the process they believed would carve out wins. And since June 1 they have been the best team in baseball while the Yanks seem like a high priced car without a steering wheel making driving an impossibility.
The Mets are already in a playoff position–in fact they own the second wild card spot and merely sit one and half games behind the Braves for the first wild card spot getting set to host a 4 game series with the Braves who currently own that spot.
We all got a taste this week on why the Mets own this town. They are tough, resilient and always hustle 100 per cent of the time. And simply put, the same cannot be said about the Yankees.
