
Tropical storm Isaias leaves over 100K on Long Island, and millions on the East coast without power. With sustained winds of 30 – 50 miles per hour downing power lines and poles. The southern shore had sustained winds of over 50 miles per hour and gusts over 70 miles per hour recorded at Republic Airport in Farmingdale. High winds and hazardous conditions temporarily forced the shut down of the LIRR.

Power outages exist in parts of Glen Cove, Sea Cliff, Glen Head, Levittown, Hempstead, along with many other towns throughout Long Island. PSEG working to restore power to it’s many customers throughout Nassau and Suffolk counties.
Fallen trees and limbs scattered all over caused blocked roads and rerouting of traffic in many areas. Route 107 running through Brookville to Glen Head showed the destructive effects of Tropical storm Isaias. It was a shambles with trees down, partial trees and limbs scattered along the road. Police diverted and directed traffic along the way. Nassau county work trucks were out to clear away and clean up the mess.
