The Allman Betts Band play the Paramount

Duane Betts and Devon Allman tear it up on Duane Allman’s Birthday at the the Paramount Theatre ,December 8,2024

It was suppose to be a night when the Allman Betts Band would mostly play their own songs with a few ABB songs thrown in. It was a full blown tribute to Duane Allman on his birthday and the rest of the ABB band. The entire set list was ABB and Duane Betts and Devon, Allman, along with their wonderful back ups sent the crowd into a frenzy song after song.

The first set had favorites such as, Not my Cross to Bear, Statesboro Blues, Trouble no more, Mellisa , Southbound ,Dreams and Liz Reed. The second set featured Seven Turns, One Way out, Rambling Man ,and the End of the Line done in acoustic. One guest musician requires a special call out. Andy Alledort, a Long Island Guitar player , who worked with Dickey Betts played on a few songs.

But lets be clear about one thing. This was no average , run of the mill tribute band to the ABB. This was a cooking, smoking ,amazing modern rendition of the great standard tunes we all love. The nearly sold out crowd at the Paramount was composed mostly of the age group the went to many ABB Beacon shows, but younger concert goers were in attendance as well. Let’s hope they return this summer or next fall to the area!
