Heading into the season, Corey Kluber and Gary Sanchez were two controversial figures. The main question was whether both of them could say healthy and produce this season.
Saturday afternoon at the Stadium, Kluber and Sanchez made their initial point.
Kluber pitched four effective innings and Sanchez belted his second home run in as many days as the Yanks claimed their first victory, a 5-3 win over the Toronto Blue Jays.
The former Cy Young winner struck out five and walked three over 70 innings before he turned it over to the bullpen that held the Blue Jays to three hits over five innings. Chad Green had an inning-ending strikeout in the eighth and finished with a four-out save.
DJ LeMahieu, Aaron Judge, and Aaron Hicks combined for 5-for-13 at the top of the order with LeMahieu and Hicks having RBIs. Jay Bruce had a bloop two-run single in the sixth.
