Strong hitting and defense powers the Mets to a win over Arizona
It wasn’t enough that the Mets as a team Tuesday night drove in 8 runs with homers by Pete Alonso, Francisco Lindor and Starling Marte. But the 4th inning defense wowed the midweek crowd with 2 great plays by Lindor and a a diving catch by Tyrone Taylor in deep left field preventing an extra base hit.
With the best record in baseball at the end of April, fans are wondering is this the year that the Mets will go deep in the playoffs in the fall. Nights like this make the fans think it might be true. This team , as a unit, is playing good ball. David Peterson had a good outing, and offensive help came from thru out the line up tonight.
